PRINCIPAL Accompanist (2025–2026 Season)
SoCo Women’s Chorus (“SCWC”) is seeking a collaborative and skilled staff accompanist for our 2025–2026 season. We are looking for someone who brings both technical excellence and a supportive presence to weekly rehearsals, performances, and the artistic process.
SCWC is a treble-voiced, auditioned community chorus that prioritizes artistry, connection, and equity. Our accompanist is a key partner in creating a grounded, inspired, and musically fulfilling experience for our singers. Rehearsals are purposeful and fast-paced, with a spirit of collaboration and joy.
About the Role:
Season runs from September 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026
Weekly rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:15 PM at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in downtown Austin
Main concert weekends:
Winter Concert: December 13 and 14, 2025
Spring Concert: May 2 and 3, 2026
Additional tech rehearsals will take place the week leading into each concert, typically on Thursday evenings
There may also be opportunities to accompany sectionals, small group rehearsals, or additional performances
Compensation:
$8,550 total for the season
Paid in nine monthly installments of $950 (October through June)
Compensation includes weekly rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and both concert weekends
Additional compensation:
$100 per extra dress or tech rehearsal (beyond what is scheduled for the two main concerts)
$200 per additional performance (outside of the two main concert weekends)
We are Looking for Someone Who:
Has strong sight-reading skills and choral accompanying experience
Is responsive to conductor cues and comfortable adapting tempo or style
Brings a team-first mindset and clear communication
Supports the artistic and emotional energy of the ensemble
Enjoys working with a diverse and welcoming musical community
